Dunmail House is a spacious yet cosy Cumbrian cottage with 3 double bedrooms that comfortably sleep 6 adult guests (the master bedroom can be made in to a twin on request). Our holiday cottage is pet friendly and two dogs are welcome to stay free of charge. There is a family bathroom upstairs and a large shower room downstairs. The cottage has both an open fire in the dining room and a wood burning stove in the sitting room.
The cottage has a family dining room, fully equipped fitted kitchen, large sitting room with comfy chairs and sofas for resting weary legs after long walks across the fells. A flatscreen smart TV is provided alongside board games, books and maps. The cottage has unlimited fibre broadband that works throughout the house with an average download speed in excess of 40 mbps. Bed linen, towels, basic cleaning essentials and a fire starter pack are included for our guests.
Located within a short drive of some of the major attractions of Lake District National Park (Lake Windermere, Coniston Water, Bowness, Ambleside, Kendal, Grizedale Forest, Grassmere and Rydal Water are all within 30 mins drive), Dunmail House is a perfect base to come and explore the Lake District from a quiet and tranquil base. Our self catering accommodation is fully equipped to ensure your stay offers a true ‘home from home’ experience.
Outside, the cottage boasts a beautiful tiered south facing garden that is a glorious sun trap on warm days. The sea views across Morecambe bay and beyond are simply spectacular and provide a stunning backdrop for a BBQ or outdoor dining. In 2020 we set about improving the garden and surrounds. We have made a number of landscaping improvements and have also purchased an 8 seater rattan dining set for our guests to enjoy.
We have ample off road parking for three cars on the private drive. Additional parking is available on nearby streets if required.
Dunmail House is lovely, very warm and welcoming. When we arrived after
a 4.5 hour drive, we were so thankful to find tea bags, sugar and even a
fresh bottle of milk to make a much-needed cup of tea, which was a
lovely touch. We wanted a quiet romantic getaway and we enjoyed every
minute
